Joseph was a carpenter in Nazareth, from the family of King David, engaged to a young woman named Mary. When he learned she was pregnant, he decided to divorce her quietly. Matthew says he was a just man and unwilling to put her to shame. Then an angel spoke to him in a dream, and he took Mary as his wife.
Scripture never records a single word Joseph said. It records what he did. Four times God spoke to him in dreams, and four times he got up and obeyed: he married Mary, fled to Egypt by night with the child, came back, and settled in Nazareth. The last we see of him, he is searching Jerusalem for a twelve-year-old Jesus. After that he disappears from the story.

The case for 9 or 6
His silence and steady obedience could also fit a Peacemaker, or a loyal 6. Scripture gives too little to be sure.
