Scripture tells us little about Miriam. Most readers take the unnamed sister who watched baby Moses in the reeds to be her, since she is Moses' only named sister (Num 26:59). That girl was quick and brave. She walked up to Pharaoh's daughter and offered to find a Hebrew nurse, and brought back Moses' own mother.
At the sea she took a tambourine and led the women in song. God later named her alongside Moses and Aaron as one he sent before Israel (Mic 6:4). But she also spoke against Moses, was struck with leprosy, and was healed after seven days outside the camp. The whole people waited for her before they moved on.

Miriam's story
Shut outside the camp
Beginning
Watching by the Nile
A sister stands at a distance to see what happens to the baby, then offers Pharaoh's daughter a Hebrew nurse.
High point
Song at the sea
Called a prophetess, she leads the women with tambourines and dancing in praise to the LORD.
Low point
Speaking against Moses
She and Aaron challenge Moses. She is struck with leprosy, Moses prays, and she is shut out of the camp seven days while Israel waits.
Ending
Death at Kadesh
She dies in the wilderness of Zin and is buried there, before Israel reaches the land.
Starts as a watchful sister by the river. Ends as a disciplined and restored leader who died short of the land.

How Miriam is wired
Why there's no type here
Scripture gives only four short scenes and almost nothing of her inner life, so a type would be guesswork.

Strengths & struggles
What's good in Miriam
Quick and brave as a girl (). Leads others in worship (). Recognized by God as a leader of Israel ().
Where Miriam struggles
Jealous of her brother's place (). Used a complaint about Moses' wife to press her own standing ().
What Miriam wanted most
To be heard and honored as one through whom God spoke ().
What Miriam feared most
Scripture does not say. Her complaint suggests she feared being overlooked.
Miriam's song by the sea pictures the song of the redeemed, and her healing pictures the work of an intercessor.
She was shut out of the camp as unclean and brought back through Moses' prayer. Jesus prays for his people and brings the unclean near. At the end, the redeemed stand by a sea and “sing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb” ().
