The bold one who failed loudly and was restored.
The story
- The call
After a miraculous catch, he falls at Jesus' knees: “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord.” Jesus calls him anyway.
- Walks on water
He steps out of the boat toward Jesus, then sees the wind and starts to sink. Jesus catches him.
- The confession
“You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Minutes later he rebukes Jesus and is called a stumbling block.
- The denial
Three times by a fire he says he does not know Jesus. The rooster crows. He goes out and weeps bitterly.
- The restoration
Three times Jesus asks, “Do you love me?” Three times he gives Peter work to do: “Feed my sheep.”
- Pentecost
The man who hid by a fire stands up in Jerusalem and preaches. About 3,000 believe.

- Where do I make bold promises to cover private fear?
- What would it look like to let Jesus restore me rather than prove myself?
