Mary Magdalene

Set free from seven demons, she was the first to see the risen Lord.

The story

1. Seven demons gone Luke 8:2

   Jesus frees her from seven demons. Scripture gives no other detail of her life before.

2. Providing for the mission Luke 8:1-3

   She travels with Jesus and the Twelve, one of several women who provide for them out of their means.

3. Watching from a distance Mark 15:40-41, 47

   She watches the crucifixion, then sees where his body is laid.

4. Weeping at the empty tomb John 20:1-15

   She comes while it is still dark, finds the stone moved, and weeps because she thinks his body has been taken.

5. Sent to tell John 20:16-18

   Jesus calls her by name. She goes to the disciples and announces that she has seen the Lord.
